The Opportunity: Westward Laboratories, part of the Samworth Brothers Group, is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Analyst to join our high-performing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about microbiology and food safety to contribute to a respected name in the industry. As a Laboratory Analyst, you will perform microbiological analysis of food and materials in a dynamic lab environment. You'll apply aseptic techniques, uphold ISO 17025 and RSA Scheme standards, and support accurate and efficient laboratory practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct microbiological testing of food and materials, including sample preparation, plating, and interpretation, while adhering to aseptic techniques and quality standards.
- Maintain laboratory hygiene by performing daily cleaning routines, ensuring personal cleanliness, and properly disposing of waste.
- Monitor and record equipment performance, performing scheduled checks and reporting any malfunctions or deviations.
- Log and analyse test results using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), flagging out-of-specification results to management.
- Support training and teamwork by supervising new staff in procedures you're proficient in, and promoting a collaborative, customer-focused work culture.
