We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our friendly team at a traditional Samuel Smith's pub on the edge of York. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys cooking quality, honest pub food without the pressure of a high-end or fast-paced restaurant kitchen and with most Sundays off!
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook and present traditional pub meals to a consistently high standard.
- Follow recipe specifications and portion controls to ensure quality and consistency.
- Maintain excellent food hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with health and safety requirements.
- Assist with stock rotation, deliveries and basic inventory control.
- Work closely with the management team to ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and cleaned correctly.
About You:
- Previous experience working as a cook or chef in a pub, café or similar kitchen.
- A passion for preparing simple, well-cooked food.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices.
- The ability to follow recipes and specifications accurately.
- A reliable, organised and positive approach to work.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a small team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
