We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our friendly team at a traditional Samuel Smith's pub on the edge of York. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys cooking quality, honest pub food without the pressure of a high-end or fast-paced restaurant kitchen and with most Sundays off!
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, cook and present traditional pub meals to a consistently high standard.
  • Follow recipe specifications and portion controls to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with stock rotation, deliveries and basic inventory control.
  • Work closely with the management team to ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations.
  • Ensure all equipment is used safely and cleaned correctly.

About You:

  • Previous experience working as a cook or chef in a pub, café or similar kitchen.
  • A passion for preparing simple, well-cooked food.
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices.
  • The ability to follow recipes and specifications accurately.
  • A reliable, organised and positive approach to work.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a small team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required.
