Samuel Smith’s is one of Britain’s few remaining longstanding independent breweries. We brew a wide range of high quality beers all from natural ingredients at the Old Brewery in Tadcaster, Yorkshire, which was established in 1758. The brewery operates its own pubs which are run under management with salaried live‑in pub managers.
We are looking to recruit a Food Development Manager, whose role will be to spearhead food sales at many of these pubs. This will be done by training and motivating the managers of the pubs to serve the food to a high standard and by creating menus which are attractive to local customers. The role is to take the business on a journey to grow these significantly over the long term.
The role will involve working around 48 hours per week, which should include one evening until 9.30pm and one weekend day per week. The majority of time will be field based in the pub kitchens delivering training to the pub teams. It will be necessary to spend some time at the brewery office in Tadcaster, for example to work on menu development, writing up food specification, cooking methods and compiling allergen information.
Requirements:
- Food hygiene certificate
- At least four years in a multi‑site food development role
- Excellent English with the ability to write and set out menus, food spec and methods
- Enthusiasm and ability to motivate others
- Live within 40 minutes of Tadcaster
