An opportunity to take on a senior technical role within a UK Transmission & Distribution engineering practice, supporting the delivery of complex power infrastructure projects. This position sits within a global power engineering environment and offers exposure to major T&D programmes across the UK.
The role involves acting in a senior civil/structural engineering capacity, leading project deliverables from concept through to construction, while supporting clients, project teams, and wider stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Lead civil design from concept through detailed design and project completion
- Prepare civil and structural specifications, datasheets, RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and recommendations
- Review vendor and contractor drawings and manage interfaces with suppliers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
- Support project planning including schedule, scope, budget, resourcing, and construction strategy
- Manage and assess change orders
- Apply expert knowledge of civil engineering codes, standards, and industry best practice
- Produce technical studies, reports, and specifications
- Develop and implement non-standard design solutions for complex projects
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of design outputs to ensure compliance with project, client, and industry standards
- Support construction activities, including resolving site queries, inspections, calculations, and material testing
- Lead and participate in site inspections and technical assessments
- Prepare and present technical reports to clients and industry forums
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Support business development, bids, and project pursuits
- Lead cost estimates, proposals, and project budgets
- Monitor and report project performance
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC, safety policies, and internal procedures
- Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline) with 7+ years of civil/structural design experience or Master's Degree with 7+ years of civil/structural design experience
- Strong experience working with UK T&D clients (e.g. National Grid, SSEN, SPEN)
- Solid understanding of CDM 2015 and Temporary Works
- Proficiency in CAD/BIM tools, structural analysis software, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and engage with a wide range of stakeholders
