Senior Overhead Line Design Engineer (m/f/d)

Join a specialist design consultancy at the forefront of Electricity Transmission & Distribution infrastructure. Weβre looking for Senior OHL Design Engineers to lead the development and delivery of complex overhead line projects, from feasibility through to detailed design, for networks operating at 33kV and above.
This is a brilliant opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging projects, shape internal design processes, and mentor the next generation of engineers.
What You\’ll Be Doing

Lead the end-to-end design of overhead line systems and steel structures, including foundations, conductors, and fittings

Manage design teams and coordinate all design-related activities, ensuring quality and compliance with BS EN 50341, ENATS, and client-specific standards

Oversee project delivery including budgets, design schedules, resource allocation and technical reporting

Provide site supervision, review method statements, and resolve design or constructability issues

Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and handover

Support design submissions, QA processes, and continuous improvement across design systems

Mentor junior engineers and deliver training in PLS CADD, PLS Tower and structural analysis tools

Contribute to the development of training manuals and technical documentation

Attend client meetings, support tenders, and contribute to business development initiatives
What We\’re Looking For

Bachelor\’s or Master\’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering

Minimum 5 years\’ experience in OHL design engineering

Proficiency in PLS CADD, PLS Tower, SAPS or similar design software
-
Strong understanding of CDM Regulations, OHL safety procedures, and project management principles

Familiarity with ENATS, BS EN 50341 and relevant client specifications

Strong communication skills, leadership capability, and collaborative approach

Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous development

Working towards (or aspirations for) Chartered status with ICE, IStructE, or IET
