We’re looking for a Head of Commercial & Estimating to join a long–established and fast–growing business in the specialist construction sector. About the Role
As Head of Commercial & Estimating, you’ll lead a well–established team of seven work–winning professionals, including directors. Your mission? To secure profitable, high–quality projects while building relationships with clients. This is a pivotal leadership role connecting Business Development, Estimating, Sales, and Marketing to drive long–term success. You’ll operate at the heart of the business, directly influencing strategy and project acquisition. With the UK’s largest and best–equipped stone manufacturing facility behind you, you’ll be empowered to deliver standout projects from concept through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all commercial, estimating, and work–winning activities
- Ensure profitable, high–quality projects are secured and delivered
- Oversee bid preparation, tender submissions, and client negotiation
- Develop and enhance client relationships, both new and existing
- Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to align strategy and execution
- Mentor and lead a multidisciplinary team toward shared commercial goals
About You
You are commercially savvy, confident with numbers, and a clear communicator who enjoys building trusted client relationships. Experience within Construction, Specialist Contracting, or Building Products will be highly regarded.
You should have:
- Strong experience in Commercial Management or Estimating roles
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in software tools including Excel
Desirable (but not essential):
- Knowledge of Stonemasonry, Construction, or Heritage Projects
- Experience in Marketing, Business Development, or Strategic Planning
