Highlights for the Solutions Design Engineer role include:
- £55,000 - £60,000 salary range plus profit related bonus
- Hybrid working (home, office and customer site based) with flexibility
- Location flexible: candidates can live anywhere from around Milton Keynes up to Cumbria
- Opportunity to have genuine influence in a small business that is growing
- You will have the freedom to recommend the right solution, not force-fit a product
Key aspects of the Solutions Design Engineer role include:
- Taking customer requirements and turning them into fully costed, tailored solution designs
- Producing conceptual/system layouts using AutoCAD and 3D design tools
- Using your broad knowledge of automated material handling equipment to create workable, scalable designs
- Assessing third party equipment and integrated systems as part of your overall solution
- Supporting the sales process with proposal documentation, quotations and presentations
- Acting as the technical go-to person, supporting customer meetings and solution discussions
The Solutions Design Engineer role will suit someone who is:
- Pro-active, ideas led and confident offering suggestions rather than waiting for instruction
- Comfortable explaining technical solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Commercially aware, able to balance technical design with cost, risk and deliverability
- Experienced in material handling automation, logistics automation, or a closely aligned sector
- Happy with occasional travel, but primarily operating in a hybrid structure
Key skills/experience expected for the Solutions Design Engineer position:
- AutoCAD for system layouts and concept development
- Exposure to 3D design tools (SketchUp, Demo3D or similar)
- Able to articulate technical solutions clearly to a non-technical audience
If you're a Solutions Design Engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy and making a visible difference in a growing company, please apply and I'll come back to you with full details.
