Samuel Frank is recruiting for an experienced PLC Software Engineer with good Siemens TIA Portal knowledge to join a well-established, specialist engineering company with a base in West Yorkshire. The company is financially stable and growing as well as having a full order book.
Key aspects of the PLC Software Engineer role include:
- Being able to program Siemens PLCs (and ideally Rockwell) is key; 80% of the projects delivered are based on Siemens.
- Successful PLC Software Engineers should expect variety; no two jobs are the same.
- The company is a bespoke manufacturing company and works with a range of clients who have various requirements in terms of scope, expectations, and timescales.
- Modbus & OPC experience are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of condition monitoring systems (Bentley Nevada, B&K, Emerson), Exor HMIs, IIoT, and Functional/Machine Safety would be an advantage.
- PLC Software Engineers applying could have experience in the Chemical, Petrochemical, or Oil and Gas industry; while this would be useful, it is not essential.
- Preparation of design documentation including I/O lists, FDS, SDI, SDS, FAT/SAT Test documents.
- The company has a policy of being open to PLC Software Engineers attending training courses and encourages career development and progression.
- Expect a rough split of being office-based 70% of the time, 20% site work in the UK, and 10% on-site internationally.
- Overseas (non-Europe) all hours paid to PLC Software Engineers are double time or x2.5 standard rate, depending on location, and all hours worked in Europe are paid at x1.5.
- Typical time spent on a site visit ranges from one day to one month.
- Office hours are 8.00 - 16.30 Monday to Thursday and 8.00 - 13.00 Friday.
- The office is based in West Yorkshire and is easily commutable from Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Halifax, and the surrounding towns.
