Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a major manufacturing site in the Deeside area. This is an opportunity to work as part of a projects team on mechanically biased aspects of capital projects from concept through to commissioning on a site that is investing heavily in plant improvements and long-term development.

The successful Mechanical Project Engineer will manage the full lifecycle of CapEx and plant improvement projects, working closely with operations, maintenance, contractors and suppliers to safely deliver projects on time and within budget. This role could suit a qualified Mechanical Project Engineer with as little as 2 years relevant experience.

Key aspects of the Mechanical Project Engineer role include:

  • Excellent communication; strong project, stakeholder and contract management skills
  • Delivering mechanically biased capital projects from concept, design and specification through to installation, commissioning and handover
  • Producing project plans, progress reports and governance documentation in line with recognised project management principles
  • Developing mechanical engineering specifications, risk assessments, management of change documentation and HAZOP documentation
  • Managing equipment suppliers and installation activities on site
  • Supporting plant improvement, process enhancement and manufacturing development projects
  • Working closely with engineering, production, procurement, finance and HSE teams throughout project delivery
  • Degree or HND/HNC qualified in Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience delivering CapEx projects within heavy industry, manufacturing, process, metals, chemical, utilities or similar environments is preferred or any continuous process line style manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of functional safety, CDM regulations and machinery safety would be advantageous
