Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer with expert level Siemens knowledge to join a multi-site specialist Engineering firm with a base near Warrington. The successful Senior Controls Engineer will need to have recent/thorough knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal including WinCC.
Key aspects of the Senior Controls Engineer role include:
- Expert level Siemens TIA Portal / WinCC knowledge
- Responsible for the system configuration, including PLC code and WinCC SCADA configurations to meet project requirements.
- Identifying any functionality changes to be made to core software or core PLC code
- Responsible for the production of project documentation including Functional Design Specifications, Project Specific Drawings, Design Risk Assessments, Test Procedures, Operator / Maintenance manuals and Training manuals
- Redundant server experience would be beneficial as would any knowledge of Siemens PCS7
- Using industry norms and standards to carry out the design calculations for sizing cooling fans, cable sizing, fusing and MCB calculations, UPS sizing etc.
- Experience with PLC communications including PROFIBUS, Industrial Ethernet, Profinet or ModBus.
All applicants must be able to achieve basic level security clearance i.e. British passport and clear criminal record. The package could be made up of a flat salary of £70k or for example, a £64k salary + car or £64k salary + car allowance depending on what your preferred option is.
Flexible working arrangements available once the successful Senior Controls Engineer is up and running. The Senior Controls Engineer role will involve occasional international travel and therefore applicants should not be subject to any travel restrictions. Its estimated the successful Senior Controls Engineer will be split between working in the office and on site to be 70/30 with 80% of all site work being based in the UK.
Essential experience/qualifications required for Senior Controls Engineer position:
- Qualified to least HNC level in a related subject area/course
- At least 8-10 years experience of Siemens PLCs and SCADA systems
- Experience of working with all aspects of the project lifecycle from specification (URS, FDS, SDS) through to commissioning and final project documentation
- Experience of working on site, commissioning PLC / PC systems including software, electrical systems and associated equipment
