Position Summary
Why join our team? Samsung is a global leader in consumer electronics and mobile technology, and the European Telecommunications Office (ETO) sits at the heart of our strategic operator partnerships across Europe. Reporting to the Global Account Director, this role forms part of a dedicated global account team managing one of Samsung’s key international mobile operator groups. You will connect the customer’s global organisation with Samsung’s local European subsidiaries and Global HQ in Korea, aligning regional commercial strategy with local market execution. You will lead the centralised purchasing and tender process, coordinate product ranging and launch activities, deliver actionable market insights, and scale cross-market commercial programmes (such as global retail incentives). You will also contribute to the wider ETO community by driving cross-account collaboration and operational best practices across our European telco portfolio.
Role and Responsibilities
- Commercial & Tender Coordination: Lead the account’s centralised purchasing and quarterly tender processes, coordinating pricing, commercial submissions, and market inputs with local account teams. Ensure alignment across European markets and use commercial insights to inform account decisions.
- Product & Launch Management: Responsible for product portfolio planning, new product introductions (NPI), and global ranging with the customer’s central team and Samsung subsidiaries. Secure ranging of flagship and ecosystem devices, support local launch execution, and track sell-out performance.
- Account & Market Insight: Provide detailed analysis on sales, forecasts, stock levels, In-House Share (IHS), and competitor activity. Translate complex market data into clear executive reports, commercial recommendations, and customer propositions.
- Stakeholder Governance & Collaboration: Build and strengthen trusted relationships across the customer’s central team, Samsung subsidiaries, ETO, and HQ in Korea. Lead weekly operational governance calls with local Key Account Managers (KAMs) and support cross-account alignment across ETO’s Global Partnership Groups (GPGs).
- Programme Rollout & Growth: Actively support the development and implementation of joint business planning, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and senior customer engagements. Drive the rollout and operational execution of pan-European commercial initiatives, including retail incentive programmes and B2B growth opportunities.
What we need for this role
To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- We are looking for a commercially astute Account Manager who combines strong analytical capability with the diplomatic skills required to turn global plans into local action.
- Relevant Industry Experience: Proven commercial experience within a mobile device manufacturer (OEM), telecommunications operator, or consumer electronics business, ideally working across multiple European markets.
- Commercial & Tender Management: Direct experience coordinating purchasing or tender processes, commercial proposals, pricing models, and product ranging.
- Matrixed Influence & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to coordinate international teams without direct reporting authority, building compelling commercial cases to secure buy-in from local market teams that own the local P&L and budgets.
- Analytical Capability: Advanced Excel and data-modelling skills, with the ability to turn fragmented sales, forecast, and market share data into clear narratives.
- Local Market & Channel Execution: Hands-on involvement in product launches, joint marketing campaigns, retail incentives, or channel activation within a local subsidiary or operator (strongly advantageous).
- Applied AI & Automation Skills: Practical experience leveraging AI tools and automation to streamline reporting, market analysis, presentation building, or commercial workflows.
- Ownership & Ambition: Proactive problem-solver with high attention to detail and the leadership potential to take on broader strategic responsibilities over time.
- Travel: Willingness to travel within Europe (and occasionally to Korea) for customer and team meetings, typically 1–2 times per quarter.
What does success look like?
- Reliable Commercial Delivery: Quarterly purchasing submissions, product ranging, and flagship launch activities are executed seamlessly, with clear ownership and timely follow-through across all markets.
- Influence Across Markets: You earn trust and secure strong local buy-in from subsidiary KAMs by understanding their local P&L priorities and building persuasive commercial business cases.
- Insight That Drives Action: Your data analysis and reporting automate routine tracking, helping both the internal team and the customer make faster decisions, spot share‑of‑wallet gaps, and improve account performance.
- Programme & Partnership Growth: You successfully translate customer needs and market insights into scalable joint initiatives, such as expanding regional retail incentive programmes, that deliver measurable sell‑out value.
- Effective Cross‑Functional Alignment: You establish yourself as a reliable connective tissue between the customer’s central team, Samsung subsidiaries, ETO, and Korean HQ, keeping complex multi‑country projects moving toward shared goals.
- Ownership & Adaptability: You anticipate operational bottlenecks before they escalate, adjust priorities dynamically in a shifting market landscape, and maintain high quality and attention to detail.
- Technology: You bring genuine enthusiasm for technology, actively introducing AI and workflow improvements that elevate how the account team operates.
