We are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager.

Your key responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to support the mobile experience (MX) business to provide commercial and financial support to SMP sim-free within MX Division of Samsung Electronics UK. The role sits within the Finance Operations team, is a business-partnering role supporting the divisional Product Management, Sales, AR, Ops and FP&A teams, reporting into the Senior Commercial Manager.

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Work closely with senior leadership and functional heads to influence and shape business strategy across the retail and pure-player channels.
  • Present and communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Offer solutions to foster revenue growth by optimising investment to drive the best possible value for the business.
  • Maintain relationships with external stakeholders mainly Customers as they relate to commercial finance matters.

Commercial decision support

  • Partner with PM and sales to evaluate the financial viability of corporate plans and investments by delivering insight and recommendations.
  • Support with the development and implementation of the investment and management frameworks aligned to divisional commercial objectives.
  • Increase efficiency and enhance commercial results derived from sales deduction investment across Smartphone retail and pure-player channels as well as reviewing how this links with overall smartphone strategy.
  • Managing Investment Pot and ensure governance is in place as well as following ROI analysis.
  • Managing product performance and associated KPIs, highlighting risks and opportunities where necessary.

Financial planning

  • Lead monthly forecasting processes and reviews with FP&A.
  • Ensure robust forecasts are in place having challenged and interrogated the key inputs with the relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the Divisions’ quarterly and monthly financial planning processes.
  • Provide financial models and scenario analysis to support commercial strategy and decision-making.
  • Analyse variances between actual performance and forecast, identifying key drivers and recommending actions.

Driving financial performance

  • Develop and manage key performance indicators to track commercial performance of key merchants.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks related to commercial activities, including revenue, net price SD and costs risks.
  • Work closely and collaborate with Product Management and Sales to drive financial performance and ensure the delivery of the Divisions’ financial objectives such as sales, profitability and market share.
  • Work with the FP&A team to prepare valuable reporting and analysis to support management with solutions of key challenges (e.g. underachievement of SO for key devices).

Financial management and control

  • Ensure strong control and governance in the financial activities undertaken by the Divisions.
  • Managing the Balance sheet in line with internal and external policies.
  • Provide guidance on the accounting for more complex customer deals, obtaining technical advice from other areas of Finance where necessary and ensuring that transactions to be supported within agreed accounting standards.
  • Guide on structuring commercial models (SOF) and their implementation in terms of the existing systems/processes, along with supporting on testing of new models.

  • Ability to explain complex financial concepts in a simple, understandable way for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Working effectively across departments including sales, PM, operations while influencing decisions.
  • Ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and analysis while balancing the need for speed and efficiency.
  • Ability to approach problems logically and analysing data to offer insights and solutions that drive business performance.
  • Being open to new ideas, flexible in shifting priorities and able to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
  • Handling pressure and maintaining performance during challenging periods, such as tight deadlines or financial challenges.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships across the division, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Balancing priorities such as forecast reviews and ad-hoc decisions support, without compromising quality.
  • Balancing financial objectives with commercial goals when working with different teams on investment decisions.

Hard Skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), three to four years post qualification, with experience in industry.
  • Up to date knowledge of international accounting standards.
  • Experience of working in technology or FMCG sectors.
  • Hands on experience of using ERP systems (preferably SAP).
  • Ability to implement change process to streamline and make existing processes more efficient.
