Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage ongoing account relationships to ensure mutual value, find opportunities for expansion, and address any challenges proactively.

  • Build compelling pitch decks and conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) to present partnership value, insights, and growth opportunities.

  • Pull and analyse relevant publisher insights from multiple data sources to inform strategy, optimise content offerings, and strengthen relationships.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including product, marketing, and editorial to align on business objectives and ensure the successful delivery of partnership programs.

  • Work closely with headquarters in Korea and teams across North America to coordinate regional strategies and standard operating procedures.

  • Monitor market trends and analyse the competitive landscape to uncover new business opportunities and facilitate growth.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Content Acquisitions in negotiating and overseeing commercial agreements to secure high-quality, premium content for our platform, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.

  • Assist in representing Samsung News at industry events and conferences to strengthen relationships, enhance brand visibility, and position the company as a leader in digital news content.

  • Aid in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to expand our market footprint and content offerings across Europe, aligning with regional growth goals.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Marketing, Media, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent experience is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability in business development, preferably within the digital media or news industry.

  • Demonstrated competence with multiple systems and processes, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and workflows as needed

  • Proven track record of negotiating and closing strategic partnerships and commercial agreements.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.

  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.

  • Experience working with international teams, particularly in Asia and North America, is highly desirable

  • Understanding of the European news industry, including key players, market trends, and business models an advantage.

  • Partnership Growth: Successfully negotiating and securing partnerships with premier news publishers, content creators, and other media companies to enrich the platform\’s content offering. Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing partners to ensure long-term collaboration and mutual benefit.

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Developing and implementing comprehensive business development strategies that align with Samsung News\’ overall goals and objectives. Demonstrating the ability to adjust and adapt strategies in response to market changes and emerging opportunities.

  • User Engagement and Growth: Driving significant increases in user acquisition and engagement metrics through strategic partnerships and content offerings.

  • Revenue Generation: Identifying and bringing to bear monetisation opportunities such as advertisements, sponsored content, or subscription models. Meeting or exceeding revenue targets through innovative business models and partnerships.

  • Product Development and Improvement: Collaborating with product and engineering teams to ensure the platform evolves to meet user needs and stays competitive in the market. Gathering and using feedback from partners and users to drive continuous improvement of the service.

  • Innovation and Thought Leadership: Bringing innovative ideas to the table for new content formats, distribution channels, and engagement methods. Staying ahead of industry trends and ensuring Samsung News remains a leader in the digital news space.
