Position: Sales Associate / Key Holder (40 hours per week)

Location: TUMI Leeds Store, 4 County Arcade in the Victoria Quarter, Leeds, LS1 6BN

Availability: As soon as possible

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the leading force on the sales floor.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge and manage the operations of the store.
  • Run the store independently during non‑peak times.
  • Provide a positive customer experience as directed in the TUMI Selling Ceremony.
  • Motivate the sales team to demonstrate "The Difference".
  • Develop new client relationships and interact with existing clients to increase sales.
  • Attain monthly, quarterly sales and SPH goals.
  • Build strong partnerships with co‑workers and store management.
  • Encourage a training and development culture within the store team.
  • Ensure the training roadmap is completed by team members.

Sales

  • Assist store management with training all associates on the TUMI Difference and TUMI Elite Moments.
  • Meet or exceed the SPH goal.
  • Convey the importance of the TUMI Customer Experience through the TUMI Selling Ceremony.
  • Build client relationships through data capture and outreach, using the Proximity clienteling app.
  • Contribute to the attainment of sales goals and KPIs.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service through emphasis on product knowledge, welcome, and positive client interaction.
  • Maintain an outstanding level of productivity, ensuring downtime is used for training, coaching, follow‑ups, and feedback.

Communication

  • Report and communicate personnel, merchandise, and operation information regularly to the Store Manager.
  • Show business awareness and ability to communicate store goals, challenges, and solution‑minded ideas.
  • Contribute to trade feedback, understand clients, and recognize purchasing trends.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings to discuss sales steps, policy implementation or changes, merchandise, and to encourage information exchange.
  • Report merchandise status, best sellers, slow sellers, deficiencies, and buying trends to the store manager regularly.
  • Diffuse customer service concerns and defer escalated issues to the store or assistant manager.

Merchandising

  • Participate in store merchandising to acquire the skills necessary to work independently.
  • Adapt Visual Merchandising Guidelines and make smart decisions to positively impact the business.
  • Meet the deadline for window and interior changes.
  • Merchandise the store to high standards and direct the team accordingly.
  • Implement correct interior signage usage.
  • Ensure all stock is well maintained and in good condition.
  • Demonstrate and train the team to recover and maintain Visual Merchandising standards.

Human Resources

  • Assist in the orientation and training of new associates.
  • Assist management with coordinating the daily activities of sales associates.
  • Support company philosophies and staff management.
  • Motivate the team through regular feedback.
  • Present a professional, well‑groomed appearance following the established dress code.
  • Maintain meal and break schedules dutifully.
  • Show high attendance and punctuality.

Operations

  • Open and close the store in the absence of the manager and assistant manager.
  • Maintain appropriate records and receipts for all products sold; ensure cash registers and money intake balance daily, with paperwork checked and signed.
  • Attempt name capture at every transaction.
  • Ticket price changes accurately and timely.
  • Notify management of damages and collaborate on proper returns to the warehouse.
  • Process shipments within 24 hours.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain a secure and hazard‑free environment, adhering to all health and safety policies.
  • Carry out health and safety procedures and ensure team adherence to all H&S guidelines.

Customer Service

  • Exemplify the TUMI Difference and Tumi Elite Moments.
  • Demonstrate behaviours as exemplified in the Selling Ceremony.
  • Follow the TUMI University training roadmap until completion.
  • Coordinate and seek assistance from the Store Manager and Assistant Manager when closing a sale or suggesting special orders, in‑store home delivery, or safer pay.
  • Clientel and data capture to build ongoing relationships with clients.
  • Explain TUMI’s After Sales Service philosophy and warranty.
  • Build and maintain client relationship through the TUMI App by Proximity.
  • Process all basic sales transactions efficiently through the register or X‑store on iPad.
  • Promote a daily training culture with TUMI University and The Coach.
  • Achieve set goals for UPT through cross‑selling.
  • Stay aware of the competitive environment.

Loss Prevention

  • Maintain inventory on the sales floor by replacing sold merchandise with stockroom items.
  • Provide feedback on low stock or out of stock items to support Min/Max changes.
  • Participate in weekly cycle counts.
  • Ensure items are scanned correctly for price checks during sales.
  • Check items in, ticket, and place them on the selling floor or stockroom within 24 hours.
  • Report shoplifters or in‑house theft promptly through guidelines or incident report.
  • Control shrinkage through loss prevention awareness and good customer service.
  • Assist in organizing and implementing inventory on seasonal or as‑needed basis.
