About the role
Samsara's Telematics team focuses on building both the product and platform for vehicle telematics data. We create the platform of telematics data that other teams interface with to retrieve reliable and consistent data powering cloud solutions that improve fleets' safety, efficiency, and sustainability. We also build products for end users, such as real-time vehicle reporting. As a senior full-stack engineer on the Telematics team, you will lead the design and development of products and abstractions based on vehicle telematics data, lead technical discussions, influence the roadmap, and collaborate with other full-stack teams to consider downstream implications. This role is backend-leaning but involves both web and mobile development. This is a remote position open to candidates in the UK and Poland; relocation assistance is not provided.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Full-Stack Customer Solutions: operate with autonomy across the product stack to deliver customer-facing solutions.
- Lead Technical Design and Data Modeling: drive design discussions to solve high-scale data challenges and influence platform roadmap with a focus on scalable growth.
- Pioneer End-to-End ML / AI Deployment: build ML/AI-driven models and features integrated into the Connected Operations Platform with real-time performance and reliability.
- Harness Data for Customer ROI: leverage large operational datasets to deliver instant, actionable insights that generate ROI for customers.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless customer experiences and understand downstream implications.
- Ship features used by customers and iterate based on feedback.
- Deliver full-stack features across front-end, back-end and mobile. Our stack includes Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React and React Native. Direct experience with these technologies is not required.
- Maintain production systems owned by the team and provide operational support.

Minimum requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing and building products in a skilled software engineering team.
- Strong programming fundamentals in Java, Python, or Golang.
- Ability to solve difficult, ambiguous problems methodically; comfortable with tasks having limited data or precedent.
- Experience designing, building and maintaining large-scale systems.
- Ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver milestones with your team.
- Proactive growth mindset and eagerness to improve the status quo.
- Experience with building ML/AI-enabled products.
- Improve operational health, observability, and cost efficiency to keep systems scalable and sustainable.
- Demonstrated ability to help develop the technical mastery of newer engineers.
An ideal candidate also has:
- B.S. in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
- Experience building customer-facing web and mobile workflow applications.
- Contributed to delivering significant value to customers.
- Curiosity about customers and eagerness to improve their day-to-day experience.
- Desire to iterate on new products based on customer feedback.
