Senior Legal Counsel – Europe

Samsara is searching for a versatile Senior Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Europe. You will support the growth of our business in Europe and collaborate closely with functions across the company on commercial and general legal matters in Europe. In this role, you will independently execute complex commercial matters with appropriate speed, drive, and focus, leading the negotiation and closing of strategic customer, partner, and vendor agreements while developing and refining scalable playbooks and workflows for commercial contracting across the region.

While this role will predominantly focus on supporting commercial contracts and workflows, you may also support adjacent legal workstreams (local privacy, employment, regulatory, corporate, product, compliance) as needed for our growing European operations. You will proactively identify and address complex risks and help design cross‑functional processes that enable the business to move quickly while managing exposure.

The successful candidate will bring deep experience in European commercial contracting, sound judgment and discretion, and will act as a force multiplier by building strong relationships with senior cross‑functional stakeholders, meeting them where they are, and taking ownership of ambiguous goals to drive high‑impact, business‑oriented outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and drive execution of commercial contracts with European and other customers, vendors, and business partners.
  • Develop and scale commercial contracting workflows in Europe, including drafting and developing form agreements and improving contracting tools and processes.
  • Support the growth of the company’s business in Europe across legal subject matters (privacy, employment, regulatory, corporate, product, and compliance).
  • Work with the Legal team and cross‑functional partners to drive strategic business and legal initiatives in Europe and act as a trusted partner to stakeholders (Sales, Operations, Partnerships, Finance, Customer Success, Marketing, Product, People, Operations, Customer Support).
  • Help build a best‑in‑class legal function for the company in Europe.
  • Answer questions and offer legal advice on a wide range of issues, projects, and initiatives across the company.
  • Exercise initiative and creativity in solving challenges and accomplishing business goals.
  • Champion, role‑model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in‑house position in the United Kingdom, including experience implementing and supporting complex scalable workflows.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills that allow for clear communication (both written and verbal).
  • Interest in being a true partner to our business stakeholders and immersing yourself in the ins and outs of our business and the industry in which we operate.
  • Ability to build, develop, and maintain strong cross‑functional relationships.
  • A high degree of professional integrity, ethics, and sound judgment.
  • Be a highly proactive self‑starter who delivers quality work within tight timelines.
  • Be humble, adaptable, and flexible, with a growth mindset and desire to work on a variety of matters.
  • Law degree from a top university with strong academic credentials.
  • Be a qualified solicitor or barrister of good standing in England & Wales.
  • Be based in the United Kingdom, preferably close to London.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working for a technology company.
  • Experience working for a major international law firm.
  • Experience working for an international company.
  • Experience driving and supporting non‑commercial legal projects and workflows.
  • Language fluency in French, German, and/or Dutch.
