About the Role

Samsara’s Installation Engineers ensure customers successfully deploy our hardware and technology at scale. In this role you will oversee customer engagements with installation partners, provide onsite support for complex deployments, and proactively de‑risk projects to deliver smooth, high‑quality installations. You’ll collaborate with customers, partners, and cross‑functional teams to drive adoption and long‑term value. The position requires frequent travel, potentially overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Define installation best practices for the EMEA organization.
  • Assist partners in building project‑specific installation guides and deliver onsite training to installer technicians.
  • Coordinate with installation partners to ensure work is completed on time, on budget, and to Samsara’s quality standards in accordance with the Statement of Work.
  • Identify risks early, propose mitigation strategies, and keep projects on track; serve as a point of contact for escalations and troubleshooting during install phases.
  • Provide onsite oversight for large or complex deployments, including building specifications, driving communication with installers, performing real‑time troubleshooting, and completing onsite quality checks.
  • Perform first‑of‑kind installations on complex customer projects, acting as the hands‑on technical expert.
  • Capture lessons learned from each project to improve processes and drive continuous improvement with installation partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Customer Success, Implementation, and Product) to share feedback and enhance the installation experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing vehicle and/or hardware technology.
  • Prior vehicle installation or fitter experience (e.g., emergency lighting, two‑way mobile radios, GPS equipment, antennas, or other electrical equipment).
  • Understanding of vehicle diagnostic systems, including CAN bus and Power Take Off (PTO) applications for on‑road and off‑road vehicles and industrial equipment.
  • Confidence in electronic & system integration and specification.
  • Experience in field operations coordination, implementation, and technical deployment.
  • Interest in AI with a view to create tooling to operate at scale.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.

  • Experience with tachographs.
  • Ability to develop professional customer‑facing documentation with diagrams and communicate effectively in ambiguous, fast‑paced work environments.
  • Strong bias for standardisation & automation, the ability to think big, with insistence on high standards.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Familiarity or hands‑on experience with AI tools to drive operational efficiency.
