At Co-op Academy Swinton, we are dedicated to delivering an exceptional science education to our students. Our well-equipped science department supports a rich array of practical learning experiences across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

We are seeking a skilled, enthusiastic, and highly organised Science Technician to join our team. In this key role, you will help ensure our laboratories run smoothly and safely, directly supporting both teachers and pupils to inspire the next generation of scientists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Practical Preparation: Prepare, set up, and accurately dispense specialist equipment, tools, materials, and chemicals for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 practical science lessons.
  • Lab Management & Safety: Maintain clean, safe, and productive laboratory spaces in strict compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Equipment & Stock Maintenance: Conduct routine safety checks, perform minor repairs on specialist equipment, manage inventory, and catalogue stock.
  • Learning Support: Support teachers during live demonstrations and assist students in accessing practical activities safely under appropriate supervision.
  • Administrative Support: Keep accurate departmental records, manage lab data, and respond efficiently to teaching requests.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: 5 GCSEs at Grade 4–9 (A*–C) or equivalent, including English and Maths (Essential).
  • Skills & Experience: A solid understanding of laboratory procedures, safety standards, and equipment maintenance.
  • Attributes: Proactive, organised, and passionate about supporting scientific education in a vibrant school environment.
