We are recruiting on behalf of a local authority client seeking an experienced Transformation Manager to lead and deliver high-quality consultancy services across a major public sector directorate focused on children, families, and lifelong learning. This is a key opportunity to shape and implement impactful change initiatives that support strategic priorities and deliver real improvements to services.

  • Location: Hybrid – travel required across the county
  • Rate: Β£500 per day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of policy and practice within your area of expertise
  • Evaluate and analyse data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Apply specialist judgement to redesign services and improve delivery outcomes
  • Drive transformation to achieve high quality, efficient, and customer-focused services
  • Lead complex reviews and projects, contributing to longer-term strategic planning
  • Develop operational plans aligned with programme and organisational goals
  • Manage budgets and resources within your area of responsibility
  • Contribute to budget planning and value-for-money delivery
  • Engage with senior stakeholders, internal teams, and external partners
  • Facilitate workshops, build consensus, and communicate complex ideas clearly
  • Lead and develop project teams or service areas
  • Coach and mentor individuals to build internal consultancy capabilities

Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience at management level
  • In-depth understanding of change management, project methodologies, and continuous improvement
  • Proven consultancy skills including process reviews (e.g. LEAN), Target Operating Model design, options appraisal and business case development, and workshop facilitation and benefits realisation
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience leading and developing teams in complex environments
  • DBS clearance and willingness to travel across the region
  • Extensive experience in local government, public sector transformation, or consultancy
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on delivery
  • A collaborative and resilient approach in politically sensitive settings
