We are looking for a reliable and practical School Facilities Operative to support the day-to-day upkeep of a school site in Hastings. This is a hands-on role involving general maintenance and facilities duties, with a particular focus on painting and decorating to help keep the school environment well maintained and presentable. You'll be working as part of the wider site team, helping to ensure the premises are safe, clean and in good condition for staff and pupils. This would suit someone who is practical, dependable and takes pride in the standard of their work. The position is initially offered on an ongoing temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general facilities and maintenance duties across the school site.
- Complete painting and decorating work to a good standard.
- Assist with general repairs, upkeep and improvements around the premises.
- Help maintain a safe, tidy and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
- Identify and report any maintenance issues or defects.
- Support the wider facilities team with day-to-day site requirements.
- Follow relevant health and safety procedures at all times.
- Complete tasks efficiently and to a high standard.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, painting and decorating or a similar hands-on role.
- Practical and confident approach to general maintenance tasks.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work.
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach.
- Able to work appropriately within a school environment.
- Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce. (Essential)
