We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established professional services organisation for a Payroll Executive to join their busy payroll team based in Portsmouth. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to manage a portfolio of clients, delivering accurate and compliant payroll services. You will play a key role in ensuring payrolls are processed efficiently while maintaining excellent client relationships. Working within a collaborative team environment, you will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing and providing expert support to clients and internal stakeholders.

- Salary: £28,000 - £31,000 per annum
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for a portfolio of clients
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery in line with deadlines
- Input and validate payroll data, running audit and validation checks
- Manage statutory payments including SSP, SMP, and other entitlements
- Handle year-end payroll processes when required
- Administer auto-enrolment and pension processes
- Act as first point of contact for payroll queries from clients
- Liaise with HMRC and third-party providers
- Maintain and update payroll systems including time and attendance records
- Carry out peer checks of payrolls to ensure accuracy
- Keep up to date with payroll legislation and industry changes
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year payroll experience in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and auto-enrolment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Customer focused approach with the ability to handle queries confidently
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Experience in a payroll bureau environment (desirable)
- Ability to manually calculate payroll (advantageous)
