We are working on behalf of a local client to recruit an experienced Capital Project Manager to lead high-profile capital transformation projects within children’s services. This role focuses on delivering complex infrastructure and service improvement programmes, such as Children’s Homes and Group Homes for Care Leavers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of key capital and transformation projects on time, within budget, and to agreed scope
- Establish governance structures, plans, risk logs, and reporting tools to manage and track delivery
- Align projects with broader programme objectives in partnership with Programme Managers
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and documentation
- Allocate resources efficiently to meet project milestones
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on project progress and risks
- Proactively identify, assess, and manage risks and issues
- Implement mitigation strategies to maintain delivery timelines
- Manage internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and delivery partners
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
- Identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation
- Capture lessons learned and feed insights into future project delivery
Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent vocational experience in a relevant field
- Project management qualification (e.g. Prince2, APM, MSP) or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Proven track record in managing complex capital or transformation projects from initiation to delivery
- Strong knowledge of project governance, business case development, risk management, and stakeholder engagement
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and lead in a complex, political environment
- Familiarity with local government, social care, or public sector delivery is highly desirable
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Willingness and ability to travel across the county
