We are recruiting for a Payroll Executive on behalf of our client based in Teesside. This is a varied role where you'll take ownership of a portfolio of payrolls, ensuring they are processed accurately, on time, and in line with current legislation, while providing a professional and responsive service to clients. Working as part of an established payroll team, you'll support the full payroll process, from processing starters and leavers to pensions, statutory payments and HMRC submissions. This role is ideal for someone with previous end-to-end payroll experience who enjoys managing multiple payrolls, building client relationships, and delivering a high-quality payroll service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of payroll clients, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
- Process end-to-end weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Process starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, overtime and statutory payments.
- Calculate and process SSP, SMP, SPP and other statutory payments.
- Administer workplace pensions, including auto-enrolment and pension submissions.
- Prepare and submit RTI returns, ensuring all HMRC deadlines are met.
- Carry out payroll reconciliations and final payroll checks.
- Respond to client payroll queries, providing a professional and efficient service.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information.
- Keep up to date with payroll legislation and ensure ongoing compliance.
- Work closely with colleagues to support the smooth running of the payroll function.
Skills & Experience
- A minimum of two years' end-to-end payroll experience, ideally gained within a bureau or accountancy practice.
- A good understanding of PAYE, payroll legislation, pensions and auto-enrolment.
- Confident using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, customer-focused approach.
- A team player who takes pride in delivering an accurate and efficient payroll service.
