We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for a Planner / Buyer to join their Operations team. This is a key role responsible for supporting production planning and purchasing activities to ensure materials, resources, and schedules are aligned to meet customer demand and business targets. This position offers a great opportunity for someone with manufacturing experience to play a central role in driving efficiency, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Raise purchase orders for materials, components, tooling, subcontract services, and consumables
- Monitor material availability in line with production schedules
- Maintain and update ERP system data (supplier details, MOQ, MOC)
- Manage open purchase orders and subcontract requirements
- Monitor supplier performance against on-time delivery targets
- Maintain and update production schedules across multiple machines and assembly areas
- Allocate work based on capacity, machine availability, and deadlines
- Adjust schedules in response to material availability, tooling, and customer priorities
- Maintain and manage the open order book
- Communicate schedule updates, delays, and risks to internal teams and stakeholders
- Control and manage MRP (Material Requirements Planning)
- Monitor and maintain KANBAN stock levels and customer contracts
- Review customer forecasts and align production plans accordingly
- Attend production and customer meetings as required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across planning and operations
- Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture
- Ensure accurate data capture within production systems
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet business and customer requirements
- Provide support across departments during busy periods
Requirements
- Previous experience within a manufacturing operations or planning role
- Strong understanding of production scheduling principles
- Good IT skills including Excel and ERP/database systems
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
