The predicted salary is between 19.8 - 24.2 £ per hour.
We are looking for a highly experienced International VAT & Financial Reconciliation Specialist to provide short-term support to a Finance team within a luxury business in Aldershot on a one-month temporary assignment. This is a specialist role requiring strong experience of VAT across multiple European jurisdictions, alongside a proven background in detailed financial and balance sheet reconciliations. You will be responsible for investigating complex discrepancies, identifying the underlying causes and ensuring reconciliation work is accurate, clearly documented and fully supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete detailed VAT control account reconciliations across the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.
- Reconcile VAT control accounts against VAT returns, accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Investigate discrepancies and historical reconciling items, identifying the underlying causes.
- Work with Finance teams and external advisers to resolve VAT-related issues where required.
- Complete detailed stock reconciliations, including Work in Progress (WIP) and delivered stock.
- Reconcile stock balances against fulfilment, delivery, invoicing and General Ledger information.
- Investigate unusual or outstanding stock balances and identify required corrections.
- Analyse high volumes of financial data and identify incorrect or unusual transactions.
- Prepare clear and fully supported reconciliation schedules.
- Identify accounting adjustments and provide supporting analysis for review and approval.
- Work closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Demand Planning and other relevant teams.
- Deliver accurate and well-supported reconciliations within the one-month assignment.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in international VAT, ideally covering multiple European jurisdictions.
- Strong knowledge of UK and European VAT processes and accounting requirements.
- Proven experience reconciling VAT control accounts across different countries.
- Strong financial accounting and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
- Demonstrable experience investigating complex discrepancies and tracing transactions through accounting records.
- Experience with stock, WIP and delivered stock reconciliations.
- Excellent Excel skills, with the ability to analyse and reconcile large datasets.
- Experience using NetSuite or a comparable ERP/accounting system.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and confidently investigate and resolve issues.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with Finance stakeholders and external advisers.
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Available to commit to a one-month temporary assignment.
