Engagement Type: Independent Contractor | Commission-Only
Salyant Ltd delivers production-grade AI engineering and automation services across IT and SaaS environments for UK businesses. We design, build, integrate, and deploy AI systems that operate in live production environments — not pilots, demos, or exploratory proof-of-concepts.
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Officer (BDO) to own UK market sales, responsible for sourcing, qualifying, and closing opportunities for implementation-ready AI services delivered by our AI engineering team.
Services You Will Sell (Strict Delivery Scope):
- Custom AI implementations aligned to specific business use cases, including internal AI tools and business process automation
- AI workflow automation and orchestration (including n8n or equivalent platforms)
- API integrations and system automation across IT and SaaS platforms
- AI agent configuration, prompt engineering, and model integration (LLMs, embeddings, OCR, retrieval systems)
- Development of AI-enabled features, scripts, pipelines, and supporting logic
- Testing, validation, deployment, and technical documentation
- Post-deployment stabilisation and delivery-phase technical support where contractually agreed
All work is delivery-led and executed by in-house AI engineers under defined scopes and commercial terms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and engage UK-based organisations with clear AI, IT automation, or SaaS integration needs
- Qualify opportunities strictly within Salyant’s delivery scope and commercial model
- Lead discovery calls focused on business outcomes and implementation readiness
- Own sales conversations from first contact through signed commercial agreement
- Coordinate internally on scope confirmation, timelines, and pricing prior to closure
- Maintain accurate sales pipeline visibility and revenue tracking
- Build repeat business and long-term client relationships
Experience & Profile:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in B2B sales, with direct experience selling AI services or AI solutions
- Proven track record of closing bespoke AI, automation, or AI-enabled services deals
- Background in SaaS, IT services, or ITSM sales is acceptable where the role involved AI-led offerings or a clear transition into AI services
- Strong understanding of how UK organisations evaluate, procure, and adopt AI solutions
- Experience selling professional services, not purely software licences
- Confident engaging with founders, directors, and senior stakeholders
- Self-managed, commercially disciplined, and results-oriented
- Excellent spoken and written English
Commission:
- Commission-only independent contractor role: 8%–10% commission on net revenue generated, based on performance and deal quality
- Commission calculated on revenue actually received (excluding VAT, refunds, chargebacks, and pass-through costs)
- Higher commission tier available for consistent high performers
Additional Incentive – On-Site Client Engagement:
- An additional discretionary bonus may be paid where UK-based in-person client meetings or site visits are required and directly contribute to deal closure
- Any site visit must be pre-approved in writing by the company in advance
- Bonus eligibility requires objective evidence of the in-person meeting (e.g. calendar confirmation, client email reference, meeting summary)
- Site-visit bonuses are payable only after successful deal closure and receipt of client payment
Why Salyant:
- Clear delivery scope — no PoCs, no advisory work
- AI engineers already in place and delivery-ready
- Founder-led organisation with fast, direct decision-making
- Strong and growing UK demand for execution-focused AI across IT and SaaS
This engagement is offered strictly on an independent contractor basis and does not create any employment, worker, agency, or partnership relationship.
