Responsibilities
I am a wheelchair user and require assistance with daily living tasks, accompaniment to activities, and support during household chores.
Domestic Duties
- Support with laundry, including bed changing.
- Support with housework: hoover, polish, cleaning bathroom, kitchen etc.
- Chop, prepare food and meals.
- Pick up prescriptions.
- Support to clean up after animals if needed.
Social Duties
- Accompany to shops.
- Accompany to social activities.
- Go food shopping with or without me.
- Support me to go clothes shopping, act as sighted guide and describe items.
- Accompany to swimming sessions.
Other Duties
- Read and help respond to mail if needed.
- Assist me reading or doing things on the computer.
- Support me to attend any appointments.
- Assist with making telephone calls.
- Push manual wheelchair safely.
Qualifications
- Good level of fitness to push and manoeuvre wheelchair safely.
- Ability to lift wheelchair into a car if driving.
- Must be self-motivated and well organised.
- Effective communication ability.
- Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
- Independent worker, able to use initiative and self-manage time and task.
- Basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Basic understanding of Infection Control.
- Experience in Health and Social Care preferred but not essential.
- Warm, approachable and professional.
- Can communicate well with others and adapt communication style.
- Calm and well organised.
- Open minded.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Able to accept responsibility.
