An exciting opportunity to join the vibrant and creative life of a 26-year-old disabled parent, writer, and performance poet in York.

The client lives with her 2-year-old son and is looking for a second Personal Assistant (PA) to join her support team.

This position is funded through the Direct Payment scheme via York Adult Social Care.

The client lives with multiple disabilities, including physical impairments (she uses a powerchair), Autism, ADHD, and complex mental health conditions (C-PTSD, clinical depression).

Her life can be busy and full of events, and she needs a second PA who is organised, patient, and compassionate to help her thrive.

The Role

This is a flexible, part-time position for approximately 60 hours per 4-week cycle, with duties including:

  • Assistance with mobility and daily routines.
  • Support with personal care, including showering and hair washing. Client doesn't need assistance with going to the toilet.
  • Helping with parenting tasks, such as nursery pickups.
  • Attending a wide variety of community events, including swimming, soft play, gym sessions, and theatre visits.

Regular evening and weekend work, with occasional overnight travel (approximately once or twice a month). All travel and accommodation costs for trips will be covered.
