Responsibilities

  • Encourage participation in physical, cognitive, spiritual and creative activities to promote wellness.
  • Support the care team with tasks including medication administration, new resident admissions and transfers of care (e.g. to and from hospital appointments).
  • Lead and support the care team, following excellent clinical practice to ensure the floor runs smoothly; actively monitor care practices, identify and respond to the changing needs of residents; act as a role model and mentor for staff, demonstrating best practices and creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Carry out supervisions with staff members, ensuring you are providing constructive feedback to support development.
  • Update care plans regularly, taking a collaborative approach that ensures residents’ needs are communicated effectively.
  • Encourage residents to maintain independence wherever possible, providing support as needed but ensuring they feel a sense of autonomy.
  • Ensure all residents are treated with respect and dignity, preserving their privacy, self-esteem and offering choice.
  • Adhere to company policies and regulatory guidelines, including infection control measures, ensuring a safe, compliant and professional work environment. Ensure procedures are correctly followed and accurate records of care are documented and communicated effectively across the care team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong communication skills: ability to communicate effectively and confidently with elderly residents, their families and the care team.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 and/or relevant experience in medication administration, care planning and delivery of care to residents.
  • Passion for wellness: genuine enthusiasm for promoting wellness and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of residents.
  • Empathy and compassion: a calm, caring personality with a deep understanding of holistic care.
  • Trust: demonstration of genuine investment in residents’ health and happiness, open and honest communication.

Cherry Tree House is a multi‑award‑winning private care home situated in the quiet residential area of Wendover. It provides residential and mild dementia care for up to 20 people, and is known for its highest levels of care in a welcoming and relaxed environment.
