While many competitors compete on price, we differentiate through exceptional customer experience, and that continues to be a key driver of our success. We are now entering an exciting phase of growth, with a clear ambition to expand our customer base and strengthen our sales function. This role offers the opportunity to join an established, knowledgeable business and play a key part in shaping its next stage.
Why Join us?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established business that truly understands its market, at a point where growth is a key priority. Youâll have the autonomy to build and shape your pipeline, the support of an experienced team behind you, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the next phase of the companyâs journey. For someone who is motivated by winning new business and wants to be part of a growing, ambitious organisation, this role offers both challenge and opportunity in equal measure.
The objective is to support the company in its ambition to grow its pallet sales.
The Role:
We are looking for a driven and proactive New Business Development Manager to focus purely on generating new business opportunities. This is a true âhunterâ role, your primary responsibility will be identifying, engaging, and converting new customers. We have an ICP, and a list of companies within it, ready to get you started. You will work closely with our internal teams who are responsible for account management and operational delivery; taking ownership once business is secured, allowing you to remain focused on pipeline generation and closing deals. You will have full ownership of your new business pipeline and performance, with support from senior stakeholders when needed, particularly on larger or more complex opportunities. This is a responsible role with real scope to progress as you contribute to the growth and development of the sales function.
What Youâll Be Doing:
- Identifying and targeting new business opportunities aligned to our Ideal Customer Profile
- Building, managing, and maintaining a structured and healthy sales pipeline
- Proactively engaging prospects through calls, LinkedIn, meetings, and networking
- Leading sales conversations and confidently overcoming objections
- Working closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth and professional handover
- Continuously refining your approach based on performance and feedback
- Being âthe faceâ of Salvatori Logistics to prospects and external partners/providers, especially at industry or trade events
A strong understanding of sales performance metrics is essential. You will be expected to take ownership of your numbers and report regularly, a few examples of this reporting type as follows:
- Number of new opportunities generated
- Conversion rates at each stage of the pipeline
- Lead-to-meeting and meeting-to-win ratios
- Average deal size and sales cycle length
- Activity levels (calls, outreach, meetings booked/held)
- Forecast accuracy and expected close dates
- Source of leads and effectiveness of different channels
This role requires someone who is not only comfortable with data, but uses it to drive decisions and improve performance. Logistics is a fast-paced, competitive, and demanding industry. Youâll be engaging with prospects who are often already working with established providers, where price pressure and resistance to change are common. Success comes from persistence, consistency, and the ability to build trust over time. You should have the experience to navigate this, and our team has the expertise to support you. This is an environment, similar to any sales space, where resilience and a proactive mindset are key.
What Weâre Looking For:
Experience (Essential):
- Proven track record in new business development within a B2B environment
- Experience selling a service-based offering
- Strong understanding of the full sales cycle
- Proficient using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Teams etc.), and CRM systems for reporting and other company systems as required
- Experience managing and reporting on pipeline, forecasting, and performance metrics
- Experience within logistics or a related sector, or clear evidence of successfully transferring sales skills across industries
Personal Characteristics:
At Salvatori Logistics, we place as much value on the person as we do on their skills and experience. Building a strong, positive culture is important to us, and that is a key consideration when bringing new people into the business. In this role, youâll often be the face of the business, so having the right values and a strong sense of integrity is essential. Youâll be representing our brand, our reputation, and our people. Trust is a two-way thing, we need to feel confident in the person we bring in, and equally, you should feel supported and trusted to succeed. Some key characteristics we look for are:
- Self-motivated and results-driven
- Ambitious, with a strong desire to succeed and progress
- Resilient and persistent in the face of challenges
- Proactive and comfortable working independently
- Strong communicator and relationship builder
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Commercially aware and confident working with targets and data
- Adaptable and willing to learn, particularly within a new industry
You will be a curious and forward-thinking individual, unafraid to introduce bold ideas to the business.
What Youâll Get:
- The opportunity to take real ownership of new business generation
- A clear path for progression as the sales function grows
- Support from experienced stakeholders within the business
- A well-established operational team, allowing you to stay focused on sales
- Industry training and ongoing support
- The chance to join a business with over 80 years of proven success
