The Role
Are you an experienced procurement professional looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? At Salvation Army Homes, we're looking for a commercially astute and collaborative Corporate Procurement Manager to lead our procurement activity, shape our procurement strategy and help ensure every pound we spend delivers maximum value for our customers, colleagues and communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the financial sustainability and strategic objectives of our organisation. You will lead the development and delivery of effective procurement strategies, ensuring compliant, efficient and value-driven procurement across a diverse range of goods, services and contracts.
Working closely with budget holders, operational teams, suppliers and partners, you will champion best practice, strengthen contract management, identify opportunities for efficiencies and embed a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement. You will also manage and support our Procurement Officer, helping to build capability and drive positive outcomes across the organisation.
What you'll be doing Develop, implement and maintain an effective procurement strategy and programme.
Lead end-to-end procurement exercises, from planning through to contract award, ensuring compliance with legislation and organisational policies.
Provide expert advice and guidance on procurement regulations, governance and best practice, including the Procurement Act 2023.
Review procurement and contract arrangements to maximise quality, performance, value for money and social return on investment.
Build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers and partners to understand business needs and deliver effective procurement solutions.
Identify opportunities to achieve efficiencies, reduce costs, improve service quality and strengthen procurement compliance.
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a proactive, people-focused approach: Significant experience of managing procurement activity in a complex organisation.
Knowledge of housing, public sector or regulated procurement requirements, including PCR2015 and the Procurement Act 2023.
Ability to interpret and apply procurement legislation, governance and policy requirements.
Strong project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage and challenge at all levels.
Working Arrangements
This is a hybrid or home working role, dependent on location. Occasional travel to our London and Bolton offices, as well as schemes across the country, will be required.
