The opportunity

Bruce House provides a high-quality accommodation-based support service for young people aged 18–25. Many are already more independent, and may be in education, training or employment, using support in a flexible way to help them sustain their progress.

As an Activities Coordinator, you will work closely with the team and residents to develop and coordinate a programme of in-house activities, education and life skills sessions based on residents’ needs, interests and aspirations. You’ll also build strong relationships with partner organisations to create meaningful opportunities for young people – including activities that support wellbeing, confidence, social connection, and progression into education, training and employment (including apprenticeships).

Your work will help young people engage positively with support, build routines, develop skills, and strengthen their move-on readiness – enabling them to sustain independence long after they leave the service.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop and coordinate an engaging programme of activities that supports young people aged 18–25 living at West Farm.
  • Deliver and/or arrange life skills sessions, group work and education opportunities aligned with independent living and tenancy sustainment.
  • Work creatively to engage residents who may be reluctant to participate, building confidence through strengths-based activities.
  • Promote activities that encourage positive routines, wellbeing, independence and community connection.
  • Work with external partners to access meaningful education, training, volunteering and employment opportunities, and signpost residents appropriately.
  • Support residents’ progression towards move-on readiness, ensuring activities contribute to building skills and independence.
  • Use social media and other communication methods to promote engagement and involvement.

What we’re looking for

  • Confidently and capably communicate, with the ability to inspire, engage and appropriately challenge others.
  • Build trusting, professional relationships and demonstrate resilience.
  • Confidently use social media platforms to engage with young people.
  • Have knowledge of, or experience working with, homeless people and/or supporting vulnerable groups.
  • Understand (or be willing to learn) about community resources and organisations that can help residents progress.

Our Benefits

  • £100 when you start work, plus £250 at 6 months’ service and another £250 at 12 months’ service.
  • 26 days annual leave rising to 31 days plus an extra day off on your birthday.
  • Westfield Healthcare Cash Back Plan (including cashback for optical, dental, therapies, plus 24/7 GP access and counselling support).
  • Matched pension scheme up to 6% (with salary sacrifice option).
  • Enhanced family leave from day one, including enhanced maternity/adoption and paternity pay.
  • Financial support options, including season ticket loans, emergency loans, mortgage advice and wellbeing support.
  • One paid volunteering day per year.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.
  • Discounted private medical insurance.
  • Occupational Sick Pay.
  • Support to learn and develop your career.
