A hands-on role for someone who is great with IT, networking, and enjoys working directly with customers on cutting-edge defence projects. They will be responsible for installing, configuring, and testing our software on hardware platforms, both in the office and in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing software on our hardware (Xcalibr and other projects).
  • Configuring and troubleshooting IP networks, VPNs, and communication systems.
  • Working directly with customers (from soldiers to senior decision-makers) in training and support environments.
  • Contributing to our internal IT, network infrastructure, and asset management.

We are looking for someone with

  • Excellent all-round IT and networking skills (DHCP, fixed IPs, remote access, VPNs, MDM).
  • The ability to diagnose and solve network issues independently.
  • Strong communication skills, confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive, thorough, and detail-oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of A-TAK (Android Team Awareness Kit).
  • The ability to get security clearance and a UK driving licence.

It would be a bonus if they have

  • Experience with Python, JSON, SQL, or managing deployable networks (e.g., Unifi).
  • Experience working in or with the defence sector.
  • Hardware configuration or training delivery experience.

The Details

  • Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
  • Location: Hybrid (2-3 days a week in Bristol or Porton Down) with travel to customer sites.
