About The Company Ingfield Manor School is an established special school based near Billingshurst, West Sussex, for students aged 3-19 years with neurological motor impairments such as cerebral palsy and associated sensory and medical needs. Our Woodview provision supports secondary aged students with special educational needs including speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) and autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) We are looking for a Forest School Leader to join us on a part-time basis to deliver Forest School sessions to students across the school and assist with the management and maintenance of our grounds. You will have Forest School Leader Level 3 or higher, be self-motivated and a good communicator, enjoy working outdoors, love interacting with students and colleagues alike, big on smiles, massive on quality and completing tasks. About The Role To promote learning in the outdoor environment and the ethos of Forest School and outdoor learning, supporting staff and students with woodland related lessons and projects. Assisting with the management and maintenance of the woodland and grounds teaching spaces to ensure a safe working and learning area. Hours: 32 hours per week. Term Time only (39 weeks) Salary: £19,980 – £20,623 pa (£14.00 – £14.45 per hour). (FTE 52wks £23,296 – £24,045). Dependent upon experience Job Responsibilities To plan, prepare, and deliver a range of engaging Forest School sessions to students with a variety of needs. Work one-to-one with students as part of a programme to develop resilience, tailoring support to individual needs and helping students build confidence, emotional strength, and problem-solving skills. Be responsible for setting up the activities and preparing the equipment and materials needed to ensure that all learners enjoy and achieve. Prepare and keep relevant risk assessments up to date. Ensure that health & safety procedures are observed. Maintain tools and machinery to ensure they are safe and functional. Plan and organise resources appropriate to the sessions and the needs of each student. Ensure all staff involved are briefed on activities and are aware of their roles and responsibilities within each session. Contribute to the curriculum by investigating appropriate courses and qualifications for KS4, and be able to deliver these programmes of study. Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school. Engage in whole-school activities as required by the Principal. Uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training. Adhere to all working protocols as agreed and published in the staff handbook. Participate in the staff training and development programme Participate in the staff training and development programme The role involves working outdoors in the Forest School Area and other outdoor area and includes bending, kneeling and crouching for periods of time. Lifting and carrying of equipment and clearing away after sessions are all a daily part of this role, sometimes assisted by students. The postholder should have the ability to provide written plans and evaluations to support their delivery of sessions in line with school expectations and the school’s quality assurance cycle. The post holder will further Salutem’s vision and comply with the policies and procedures of Salutem and the school.
