About the Company

Ingfield Manor School is a non‑maintained special school and part of Salutem Care and Education, supporting adults and children in residential and educational environments across England and Wales. The school offers extensive specialist facilities, including woodland and outdoor classroom space, a high specification sensory room and a swimming pool. Our Integrated Management System (IMS) caters for students aged 3–19 years with neurological motor impairment such as Cerebral Palsy and associated medical and sensory needs, following the Conductive Education approach. Residential provision, Acorns, provides respite care from Monday to Friday during term time. Woodview offers secondary aged students with special educational needs such as speech, language, communication needs and autistic spectrum conditions.

About the Role

Term‑time only (39 weeks) with 12 waking hours per week on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Core hours are 19:00–07:30 with waking 19:00–23:00 and 05:30–07:30; sleeping 23:00–05:30. An earlier start time of 19:30 may be indicated on some evenings. Salary £7,466.04–£7,546.32 per annum (£13.95–£14.10 per hour) plus £3,040 sleep‑in on‑call allowance per year. (FTE 52 weeks £29,016–£29,328). Dependent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with evening and early‑morning duty staff and complete formal handovers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Support residents with evening and night‑time routines, including preparing for bed and assisting with morning wake‑up routines.
  • Carry out routine laundry, hygiene tasks, and light domestic duties between scheduled bedroom checks.
  • Play an active role in fire evacuation procedures and ensure all safety protocols are followed.
  • Respond appropriately to any issues that arise during the night, escalating concerns to the relevant senior staff when necessary.
  • Complete all required documentation, including night logs and wellbeing records, before the end of the shift and provide a thorough handover to day staff at 7:00 am.
  • Monitor the security of the premises throughout the night.
  • Deliver high standards of physical and emotional care to all residents.
  • Help maintain a safe, hygienic, and well‑presented physical environment.
  • Participate in ongoing staff training and development.
  • Hold or be willing to work toward and complete a Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • Support and promote the school’s conductive education ethos, encouraging positive attitudes in both staff and students.
  • Collaborate across departments to help deliver the organisation’s strategic goals.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence and meet expectations of both the organisation and regulatory bodies.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Provide waking‑night cover in emergencies or during staff sickness.
