Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner – Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care by promoting Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) across services.
  • Conduct functional behaviour assessments to understand needs, triggers, and communication barriers.
  • Develop and implement personalised, strengths‑based PBS plans aligned with individual goals.
  • Work closely with individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support skill development, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Coach and train staff to confidently apply PBS approaches, ensuring consistent and compassionate practice.
  • Monitor behavioural data, evaluate outcomes, and update plans to ensure effectiveness.
  • Promote the reduction of restrictive practices, ensuring ethical, safe, and least‑restrictive support.
  • Support service stability, transitions, and crisis planning while championing dignity, autonomy, and quality of life.
