Salute is looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team. This is a key role for someone who enjoys combining technical knowledge of infrastructure with commercial insight to help customers solve complex challenges and drive business growth. At Salute, you’ll work closely with the sales team to understand customer requirements, design technical solutions, and present them in a way that clearly demonstrates value.

If you have experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems, enjoy client-facing technical discussions, and want to contribute to high-value deals across EMEA, this role is for you. We are open to candidates from a range of technical backgrounds, including recent graduates in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services. Prior experience in data centers is not essential; experience in similar industries such as facilities management, mission-critical infrastructure, or industrial engineering will also be considered. This will be a hybrid position with 2 days per week based at the Gatwick office.

How we operate: In some pre-sales roles, technical specialists focus purely on system design while sales teams handle the commercial side. At Salute, we integrate these roles. You’ll provide technical guidance throughout the sales cycle, collaborate with engineering and delivery teams, and communicate complex solutions in a clear, business-focused way. From discovery to proposals and client presentations, you’ll bridge solutions and business needs. Your input helps shape bids, ensure solutions are deliverable, and contribute to successful, high-value contracts.

This role will be a great fit if you like:

  • Working with customers to understand technical requirements and translate them into actionable solutions
  • Using your knowledge of infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and mission-critical systems
  • Being involved in end-to-end pre-sales activities, from discovery to proposal and demonstration
  • Using CRM systems like Salesforce to track engagements and maintain accurate records

The role may not be a fit if:

  • You are focused exclusively on IT or software roles rather than infrastructure and facilities
  • You’re uncomfortable collaborating across technical, commercial, and operational teams
  • You prefer predictable day-to-day tasks without variation or strategic input

On a regular basis you will:

  • Provide technical expertise to the sales team throughout the full sales cycle
  • Conduct technical discovery sessions with prospective and existing clients
  • Design and propose solutions covering infrastructure, power distribution, and mission-critical systems
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, demos, and proof-of-concept activities
  • Respond to technical queries, RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs with accurate, commercially viable solutions
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, delivery, and operations teams to ensure solutions are deliverable
  • Support pricing and commercial discussions with technical input on scope, complexity, and risk
  • Participate in site visits, client meetings, and industry events
  • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce or other CRM systems
  • Contribute to standard solutions, technical collateral, and sales enablement materials

Skills and experience you will bring:

  • Technical Expertise: An understanding of infrastructure, mechanical and electrical systems, cooling technologies, and mission-critical facilities
  • Proposal writing and tender/RFP response experience
  • Commercial Acumen: Pre-sales experience in sales engineering or technical sales is preferred, but graduates with relevant technical backgrounds will also be considered
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business value and commercial benefits
  • Experience supporting complex, high-value B2B sales cycles is a plus
