As a result of this growth, we are looking to recruit a Senior AWS Engineer based in our Gatwick office (working on a hybrid basis).
The Senior AWS Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting secure, resilient, and highly available cloud environments for our clients. This role exists to help our clients fully leverage the power of AWS and other cloud technologies, while maintaining strong operational excellence across Windows‑based systems and hybrid infrastructures.
The Senior Engineer is responsible for architecting and delivering scalable AWS services leveraging infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation tools for provisioning and management. The role also administers and optimises Windows Server environments and related services, ensuring adherence to agreed processes and security standards. This includes providing hands‑on technical support for ongoing operations, troubleshooting, system upgrades, and complex implementations, while offering trusted technical guidance to colleagues and stakeholders.
Acting as a subject matter expert, the Senior AWS Engineer contributes leadership, mentorship, and technical authority – enabling the business and its clients to adopt and operate modern cloud platforms with confidence, efficiency, and long‑term stability.
Responsibilities- Lead the day‑to‑day operation and maintenance of Hosting and Infrastructure services, ensuring service levels, obligations, and KPIs are consistently met. This includes managing critical incidents that may occur outside normal business hours.
- Act as the AWS and cloud infrastructure subject matter expert, providing proactive technical leadership to advance the function through innovative cloud solutions, continuous improvement, and capability development.
- Design, build, and enhance cloud and infrastructure solutions to meet evolving business and client needs.
- Share expertise by training and mentoring team members, partners, and clients to uplift capability across the organisation.
- Support sales initiatives, including technical input into proposals, contract changes, and client discussions.
- Proficient in deploying, managing, and optimising AWS EC2 instances.
- Solid understanding of networking, security principles, and cloud architecture best practices.
- Strong professional working knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and associated infrastructure services.
- Hands‑on experience with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in Terraform, CloudWatch, PRTG, GitHub source control, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation, WAF and related security technologies.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, including S3, RDS, Route 53, IAM, VPC and Lambda and more.
- UK Government Security Clearance (SC) to be obtained, if not cleared already.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer (or other relevant AWS certifications); Python and other coding experience would be an advantage.
- Experience in a similar cloud or infrastructure engineering role.
