The Lead Business Analyst within the Business Transformation team will lead the practice of business analysis across the function, combining hands-on delivery across the project portfolio with responsibility for the quality, consistency and development of a team of 3-4 Business Analysts. The role brings senior analytical capability and deep process design expertise, including process architecture, taxonomy and current and future state design applied consistently across all projects and embedded into the standards and ways of working of the BA team.
As a Lead Business Analyst, you are responsible for:
- Leading business analysis activity across projects, producing high-quality analytical outputs including requirements documentation, and as-is and to-be process designs.
- Applying process design and architecture techniques across all projects - defining process hierarchies and taxonomy, mapping current and future state flows, identifying process ownership, and using recognised modelling notation (BPMN or equivalent) to produce process maps.
- Identifying process inefficiencies, gaps and risks during analysis activity, and translating these into well-reasoned recommendations that inform solution design and business case development.
- Ensuring process design work produced across the BA team follows a consistent approach, reviewing requirement documents and process maps as part of broader quality assurance responsibilities.
- Facilitating workshops and requirements sessions with senior business stakeholders, bringing structure and challenge to ambiguous problem spaces.
- Defining and maintaining BA standards across the team: artefact templates, quality criteria, peer review approach and document standards used across all projects and tactical changes.
- Reviewing BA deliverables produced by the team, providing structured feedback and ensuring output meets the required standard before it reaches senior stakeholders or project gate reviews.
- Line managing and developing a team of 3–4 Business Analysts, owning their performance reviews, objectives and professional growth.
- Continuously improving BA standards and ways of working based on lessons learned across the portfolio.
The successful candidate will typically have:
- Approximately 10 years of experience in business analysis, with a demonstrable track record of progression into senior and lead roles.
- Proven experience in process architecture and design, including defining and structuring process taxonomies, establishing process hierarchies, mapping current and future state flows using BPMN or equivalent notation, and producing process documentation.
- Experience leading, managing and developing a team of Business Analysts.
- Experience working in wealth management or broader financial services, with an understanding of the regulatory environment, client lifecycle, and operational complexity that characterises the sector.
- Comfortable operating at senior stakeholder level, facilitating workshops, challenging requirements, and presenting analytical findings to exec-level audiences.
- Experience defining and embedding BA standards, templates and quality frameworks within a delivery team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable outputs for both technical and business audiences.
- Experience working across multiple delivery methodologies (Agile, waterfall or hybrid) and the ability to adapt analytical approach accordingly.
- BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis, CBAP, or equivalent is desirable.
