Saltire, the UK’s largest independent provider of domestic boiler and central heating services, is currently seeking an experienced builder to join our growing team. This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with occasional travel and overnight stays. Candidates should possess a relevant trade qualification and a minimum of three years’ industry experience. Experience in roof work, vertical flue installation, soakaway fitting, minor plastering, and basic groundworks is desirable.

Main Responsibilities of the Role

  • Undertake a variety of building tasks related to boiler and central heating installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Work independently or as part of a team depending on project requirements.
  • Travel to job sites across regions, including occasional overnight stays for longer projects.
  • Carry out roof work for boiler and solar installations.
  • Install vertical flues for boiler systems.
  • Fit soakaways for gas boilers and air source heat pumps.
  • Complete basic groundworks, including slab fitting and alterations.
  • Perform minor plastering tasks related to heating and electrical upgrades.
  • Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations on all job sites.
  • Maintain and make proper use of company tools, uniform, and equipped vehicle.
  • Operate handheld technology for job tracking, reporting, and communication.
  • Deliver professional, courteous, and efficient customer service.
  • Collaborate with other trades and departments to complete integrated projects.
  • Represent Saltire with professionalism and a commitment to high standards.
  • Interpret building plans and technical drawings to complete work accurately.
  • Record and report additional works, defects, or site issues to supervisors.
  • Attend regular training and toolbox talks to stay compliant and up to date.
  • Manage job materials effectively to avoid waste and improve efficiency.
  • Support less experienced team members or apprentices when required.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and respectful working conditions in customer homes.

Qualifications Required

  • Valid UK driving licence, with a willingness to travel extensively across Scotland.
  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g., SVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
