Senior Design Manager | Europe
Salter Grange is recruiting on behalf of a leading European engineering and construction contractor delivering major data centre and mission-critical projects across Europe.
We are seeking an experienced
Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design teams from project inception through to construction and handover.
This role requires a proactive leader with strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders within fast-paced project environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the design process throughout all project phases, from concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and specialist consultants.
- Develop and manage design programmes aligned with overall project delivery schedules.
- Review design deliverables to ensure compliance with client requirements, project specifications, applicable European standards and local regulations.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, commercial teams, procurement and site operations to ensure design intent is maintained throughout construction.
- Manage design risk registers, technical queries, Requests for Information (RFIs) and design change processes.
- Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, sustainable, and fully buildable.
- Support value engineering initiatives while maintaining project quality and performance standards.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in design management, engineering, or project delivery within the construction industry.
- Experience on large-scale projects, ideally within data centres, mission-critical, pharmaceutical or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services systems.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams across multiple countries or regions.
- Knowledge of European building regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
- Experience working within BIM environments, including Autodesk Revit and common data environments.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
