Salter Grange is currently working with a leading international Mechanical and Electrical Engineering contractor with a reputation for delivering high-stakes, technically complex projects across Europe. As they continue to expand their London operations following a recent global merger, we are seeking a precision-oriented Senior Mechanical Estimator to lead the bid process and ensure they remain the most competitive and reliable partner in the industry.

As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will be a key figure in the Pre-Construction department, evaluating the viability of multi-million-pound projects and defining the commercial strategy that allows the business to win and deliver world-class engineering works. You will work closely with the Commercial Manager and the Business Development team to provide accurate, innovative, and competitive costings for some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure and commercial projects.

  • Lead the preparation and submission of comprehensive mechanical estimates for projects ranging from £5m to £50m+.
  • Thoroughly review tender drawings and specifications to identify risks, opportunities for value engineering, and project requirements.
  • Manage the enquiry process with vendors and sub-contractors, ensuring all quotes are compliant and offer the best value.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions from the Estimating phase to the Operations/Project Management teams upon successful contract award.
  • Maintain and update the internal cost database to reflect current market rates and commodity pricing.

Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in Mechanical Estimating within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 M&E contracting environment. Expert-level knowledge of estimating software (such as Trimble/Amtech, Ensign, or Bluebeam) and advanced Excel. A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or Quantity Surveying is highly preferred.
