On behalf of a market‑leading specialist electrical contractor, Salter Grange is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Electrical Estimator to join a rapidly growing team based out of Derry. Our client is a premier contractor specializing in medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) cable installation, termination services, busbar, and containment solutions. Headquartered in Ireland, they deliver mission‑critical projects for a diverse range of customers across Europe and beyond, spanning high‑growth sectors such as data centres, pharmaceuticals, renewables, power generation, and critical infrastructure.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will take full responsibility for managing the estimating function. You will oversee the production of Electrical tenders for both pre‑designed and design & construct projects, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, competitive submissions while fostering a professional, collaborative team environment.

Senior Electrical Estimator Responsibilities
  • Manage the estimating department, overseeing all new project enquiries from initial inception through to final submission.
  • Set up estimates, tender packs, and applicable trackers to ensure consistency and accuracy across all bids.
  • Lead communication with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and clients throughout the entire tender process.
  • Review engineering drawings and prepare precise take‑offs for LV/MV Cabling and Containment systems.
  • Oversee the input of take‑offs and supplier quotations into relevant estimating formats.
  • Produce and review bills of quantities, schedules of work, and contractors' proposal documents to support bids.
  • Manage the formal handover process to the operational delivery team, ensuring complete clarity and commercial continuity.
  • Develop strong inter‑departmental relationships, working closely with Contracts Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and the Design/Engineering department.
  • Support the continuous improvement of estimating processes, systems, and commercial governance.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and professional support to estimators within the team.
Senior Electrical Estimator Requirements
  • Strong commercial background in an Estimator or Senior Estimator role, ideally with team‑lead or supervisory experience within the electrical contracting sector.
  • Self‑motivated with a proven ability to ensure tight project deadlines are consistently achieved.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple tenders simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team to manage workload efficiently.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and internal teams (effectively translating technical details to non‑technical stakeholders).
  • Sharp ability to read and accurately interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and commercial awareness.
