We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager / Epic Delivery Owner (EDO) to lead complex technology initiatives across a portfolio of corporate enterprise applications supporting functions such as Finance, HR, Risk, Audit, Compliance and Legal.
The environment consists predominantly of enterprise packaged solutions, ERP platforms and SaaS applications, ranging from specialist applications through to large-scale business-critical platforms supporting thousands of users.
The successful candidate will lead initiatives including:
- New ERP / enterprise package implementations
- SaaS and cloud application implementations
- Major application upgrades and migrations
- Modernisation of existing enterprise applications
- Infrastructure upgrades supporting business applications
- Enhancements and integrations across existing platforms
This is an end-to-end delivery position requiring strong project leadership, vendor management and sufficient technical understanding to manage complex dependencies across applications, integrations, infrastructure, security and the wider technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of one or multiple complex IT projects/Epics, from initiation and planning through implementation and go-live.
- Lead ERP, SaaS and enterprise package implementations, upgrades and migrations.
- Develop and maintain detailed delivery plans covering scope, milestones, resources, budgets, forecasts and dependencies.
- Coordinate multiple business and technology teams across different locations, divisions and entities.
- Manage third-party software vendors, system integrators, implementation partners and outsourced teams.
- Understand the wider application and technology ecosystem and proactively identify cross-project and technical dependencies.
- Identify, manage and resolve risks, issues and dependencies, establishing clear mitigation and remediation actions.
- Work closely with architects, security teams, infrastructure teams, application specialists and business stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets, resource requirements and delivery forecasts.
- Own change control, challenging and negotiating changes to requirements, scope, timelines and priorities where necessary.
- Provide clear reporting to senior management, project sponsors and key stakeholders.
- Lead project governance and support Steering Committee decision-making.
- Ensure projects comply with internal delivery, security, risk, governance and quality standards.
- Act as the primary interface between business sponsors, IT teams and external suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement across project delivery and ways of working.
Essential Experience
- Strong experience as a Senior IT Project Manager, Epic Delivery Owner, Programme Manager or Technology Delivery Lead.
- Proven delivery of large-scale ERP, SaaS, COTS or enterprise packaged application implementations and/or major upgrades.
- Strong track record of end-to-end project delivery, from initiation through implementation and go-live.
- Experience managing complex application projects involving multiple business and technology teams.
- Strong experience managing third-party vendors, system integrators and/or outsourcing partners.
- Experience managing project budgets, resources, forecasts, RAID and dependencies.
- Strong change control and scope management experience.
- Excellent senior stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively across both business and technical teams.
- Good understanding of enterprise technology environments including SaaS, cloud, on-premise applications, integrations and infrastructure.
- Ability to quickly understand complex application landscapes and identify technical and business dependencies.
- Experience leading projects across multiple teams, locations and disciplines.
- Ability to operate independently and take accountability for successful delivery.
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering applications supporting Finance, HR, Risk, Audit, Compliance or Legal functions.
- Experience with major enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Workday, ServiceNow, SuccessFactors, Microsoft Dynamics or comparable ERP/SaaS/COTS solutions.
- Experience within banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment.
- Cloud and enterprise application modernisation experience.
- Experience managing large external implementation partners.
- PRINCE2, PMP/PMI or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience working within Agile and/or hybrid delivery environments.
