We are seeking an experienced Operational Services Contract Manager to join a forward thinking Local Authority in Essex on an initial six month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a range of high profile operational and environmental projects, managing procurement activity, contract mobilisation and supplier performance across essential public services.
The Role
You will be responsible for delivering and overseeing a portfolio of operational service contracts, ensuring projects are procured compliantly, mobilised successfully and deliver excellent outcomes for residents. Projects include:
- Waste and recycling related procurements
- Environmental enforcement contracts
- Stray dog and abandoned vehicle services
- Fuel supply arrangements
- Public realm improvement projects
- Wheeled bin rollout programmes
- Park infrastructure and lighting projects
- Grounds and environmental service initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end to end procurement exercises and contract mobilisation activities
- Manage supplier relationships and contract performance
- Monitor project delivery, budgets, risks and compliance
- Work closely with operational, procurement, legal and finance teams
- Produce reports and updates for senior stakeholders
- Drive service improvements and value for money across contracts
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience managing operational service contracts within a Local Authority or public sector environment
- Strong procurement and contract management experience
- Knowledge of environmental services, waste management, public realm, highways, parks or similar operational services
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Understanding of public sector procurement regulations and governance requirements
