Position Summary: We are looking for a reliable, practical and proactive Site Operative to join our team. This is a varied position combining general site and labouring duties with responsibility for opening the site and supporting day-to-day site security and access arrangements. The role would suit someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised working environment, is comfortable working independently and is willing to get involved across a range of practical site activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Open the site and relevant buildings and disarm security systems in accordance with Company procedures, ensuring the site is ready for the working day by 07:00.
  • Carry out routine site and perimeter checks and report any security, safety or maintenance concerns.
  • Manage access for early-arriving contractors, delivery drivers and visitors in accordance with site procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across workshops, stores, yards and external areas.
  • Remove waste, scrap and swarf and support waste segregation and recycling.
  • Load and unload vehicles and move materials, equipment and products around the site.
  • Support stores, deliveries, collections and general warehouse activities.
  • Provide practical labouring support to the wider business.
  • Assist with workshop projects, maintenance, installation and facility improvement activities.
  • Carry out routine checks of Company vehicles and equipment and report defects.
  • Operate an FLT or other authorised equipment where appropriately trained and authorised.
  • Comply with all Company health, safety and environmental procedures and use PPE as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential:

  • Reliable, punctual and able to consistently meet the 07:00 site opening and 17:30 close requirements.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with a willingness to undertake a varied range of duties.
  • Good understanding of the importance of workplace health and safety.
  • Able to work independently and use initiative while also working effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with colleagues, contractors, visitors and delivery drivers.
  • Physically capable of undertaking the practical and manual aspects of the role, subject to reasonable adjustments where applicable.
  • Previous key-holder, site-opening experience.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing/engineering or similar environment.
  • Valid Counterbalance FLT license - For the right candidate, we may be able to provide and fund appropriate FLT training and certification, subject to the Company's training arrangements and the candidate meeting the relevant requirements).
