Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Turner/Miller Machinist to join our dynamic workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating manual lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision components according to technical drawings and specifications. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong mechanical aptitude and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate turning and milling machines (manual and/or CNC).
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
- Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain production quality.
- Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other machinists to optimize production processes.
- Record production data and complete job sheets accurately and in a timely manner.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Proven experience as a Turner, Miller, or general Machinist.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, verniers, gauges).
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent qualification is preferred, but not essential.
