A Council in Essex is hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer on a temporary basis. This role sits onsite in Essex for two days each week and focuses on keeping core infrastructure stable, secure and fully supported while leading improvement work across the estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain enterprise level server infrastructure including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
  • Manage and troubleshoot networks including LAN, WAN, WIFI, firewalls, VPNs and routing
  • Provide technical expertise across backup solutions and disaster recovery
  • Monitor performance and capacity, solving issues before they impact service
  • Strengthen cybersecurity including patching, vulnerability management and compliance
  • Lead infrastructure projects including upgrades and migrations
  • Administer Microsoft 365 and Office 365 including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Co Pilot and security configurations
  • Keep documentation and IT policy controls up to date
  • Mentor junior engineers and support teams

Requirements

  • Local government experience is required
