We're hiring a Freelance Product Designer to join a major UK retail banking programme focused on mobile‑first digital experiences for a digital transformation agency. This is a full‑time contract (5 days per week) for an initial 6 months, with strong potential to extend. You'll be working hybrid – 3 days per week on‑site in Farringdon (mandatory). This role is Inside IR35 (Umbrella only – no Ltd or Sole Traders).

The Role

You’ll be designing customer‑facing mobile banking experiences within a complex, regulated environment. This is a balanced role with a 50/50 split across UX and UI, requiring strong end‑to‑end product design capability. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, cross‑functional teams, and established design systems to deliver high‑quality, scalable digital solutions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in retail banking or financial services
  • Proven track record designing mobile‑first digital products
  • Highly proficient in Figma (primary tool – used for ~90% of design work)
  • Experience using FigJam for collaboration and workshops
  • Confident delivering both UX and UI solutions
  • Comfortable operating at Strong Manager level
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working within structured design systems
  • Previous team management experience is beneficial but not essential – seniority and stakeholder influence are more important.

  • Location: Farringdon, London

  • Rate: £580 per day (all‑in, maximum)
