Salt Recruitment is supporting a Local Authority in Essex on a short, high-impact Data Architecture assignment. This is a 12‑week contract focused on mapping the council’s core application estate ahead of Local Government Reorganisation. The work is well‑defined, delivery‑focused, and needs someone who can hit the ground running.
You’ll lead a discovery and documentation piece that gives the organisation a clear, visual understanding of its systems, integrations, and data flows. By the end of the contract, you’ll produce an architecture pack that shows what exists today, how systems interact, and where dependencies sit. This will directly inform planning and decision‑making for wider transformation activity.
What you’ll be doing:
- Mapping all major applications used across the council
- Documenting integrations, including batch jobs and overnight feeds
- Producing clear architecture diagrams for technical and non‑technical audiences
- Working autonomously and providing weekly progress updates
- Engaging service areas to validate system use, data flows, and dependencies
- Supporting preparation for upcoming LGR‑related change
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Data Architect within Local Government
- Strong understanding of common council systems, ideally including: NEC Housing, IDOX, Liquidlogic (Adults/Children’s), Bartec (Waste)
- Ability to reverse‑engineer and document complex environments
- Confident producing system maps and architecture documentation
- Self‑managing with strong communication skills
Contract details:
- 12‑week contract
- £500/day (outside IR35)
- Hybrid working: 2 days per week on site in Essex
- Immediate start preferred
- Rates depend on experience and client requirements
If you have solid Local Government experience and can deliver a clear, accurate view of a complex application landscape, we’d like to hear from you.
